“The Change. I like it!”

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
  • A young band formed in May 2008
  • 4-piece, sing song band (does genre really matter?)
  • Jazz, blues, country, folk, roots, etc. (so basically it makes you rock and makes you roll)

Marcus Adrian McDowell (Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Harmonicas)

Was born in Scarborough, Ontario and raised on the farm in the outskirts of Stouffville. At 3 he received his first miniature guitar, and at 5 began singing along side daddy at old-folks homes and folk festivals alike. Took a break from music until he was 14 to become a cop, a doctor, and a fireman. Back to reality. After an Aerosmith concert he wanted to perform. After a Neil Young concert he began writing songs. Got a little lost along the way and started a police foundations course at Seneca college, dropped out. Back to reality. Marcus met Roy Bartell, and after playing with a number of guitarists, met Greg McGeen playing at a local coffee shoppe open stage. And now what you see is what you get.

Roy Bartell (Drums)

Growing up Roy has always been influenced by music, largely by the classic rock genre. His love for the soulful lyrics and power that rock provides drove him to pick up the drum sticks in the middle of high-school to jam along with a lyrical driven power musician who was a friend of a friend, Marcus Adrian. With this the two set full head of steam to start a souldul Rock & Roll band. In 2007, Roy attended Humber College in Toronto and graduated with a Film and Television Production Diploma, leading to the production two of The Change's first music videos, including the Award-Winning Roll Yr' Tongue video.

Gregory Michael {McGean} (Lead Guitar)

Eric's older brother by 2 years was also born in Scarborough, Ontario and raised on Cape Breton Island. Greg started on the fiddle and then got his hands on a acoustic guitar at 11 or 12 (who's counting) When he was 16 he got turned onto the Japanese Fender Strat that he plays to this day Greg is "steeped in the old timey material" so to speak. The works of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan have had an influence on him. As far back as the 20's and 30's Greg knows, (as most of us do) that music, in its essence is built over time. Someone plays a cord or riff, and 20 or more people hear it and they play it the way they feel is right. We all as musicians, help each other get to where we are today. For example Elvis Presley brought to the popular culture something that was being done all around the country. Once in a while someone will bring something to the table so different and exciting that it can't be ignored. The music of Hank Snow with fiddler Winston Scotty Fitzgerald and Buddy Holly, are some others that have inspired Greg.

Eric James McGean (Bass Guitar)

Was born in Scarborough, Ontario and raised on Cape Breton Island. (Canada's east coast) He enjoys ham sandwiches and long walks on the beach...... and riding his motorcycle. Eric started with music on the acoustic guitar at 11, and moved to the bass when he was 14. His first love was a Gibson, and then he switched to a Fender. Some of his influences include Steve Harris, Duff McKagan, and Geezer Butler. And to this day, the only way to stop "baby Eric" from crying is to give him a few strums on the old guitar - a discovery of his babysitter when Eric was a pup.
